The Starfish Story

A man is walking along the ocean and sees a beach on which thousands and thousands of starfish have washed ashore. Further along he sees an old man, walking slowly and stooping often, picking up one starfish after another and tossing each one gently into the ocean. “Why are you throwing starfish into the ocean?,” he asks. “Because the sun is up and the tide is going out and if I don’t throw them further in they will die.” “But, old man, don’t you realize there are miles and miles of beach and starfish all along it! You can’t possibly save them all, you can’t even save one-tenth of them. In fact, even if you work all day, your efforts won’t make any difference at all.” The old man listened calmly and then bent down to pick up another starfish and threw it into the sea. “It made a difference to that one.”

Got a picture of the girl. Her name is Theresa. I talked to the director and she said the girl will go to the hospital next week. This is too urgent to wait a week, so I am pushing for her to go tomorrow or the next day. I feel so sorry for this poor little girl. I hope she will make it.

I came home early to do some schoolwork and to rest, which was really nice. I have been taking 2 hour naps in the middle of the day, and still sleeping 11 hours at night! I am feeling really well rested. I have become a little bit irritated with my taxi driver, because he always shows up at least an hour wait, so I am just sitting waiting for him when I could still be working. I think I will just take a taxi from the side of the road from now on, because it will be much easier.

KK proposed to me yesterday. He came right up to me and slid a 'ring' onto my index finger. I don't think it was his intention to propose, but I said yes and kissed him anyway! The ring is the small piece of rubber at the end of a balloon, and I will keep it forever! Now when I get marriage proposals from random African men I can just tell them I'm already taken.

Bye for now.

Theresa came in yesterday, she is two years old and has Hydrocephalus.

Engaged to KK my forever husband!
