The Starfish Story

A man is walking along the ocean and sees a beach on which thousands and thousands of starfish have washed ashore. Further along he sees an old man, walking slowly and stooping often, picking up one starfish after another and tossing each one gently into the ocean. “Why are you throwing starfish into the ocean?,” he asks. “Because the sun is up and the tide is going out and if I don’t throw them further in they will die.” “But, old man, don’t you realize there are miles and miles of beach and starfish all along it! You can’t possibly save them all, you can’t even save one-tenth of them. In fact, even if you work all day, your efforts won’t make any difference at all.” The old man listened calmly and then bent down to pick up another starfish and threw it into the sea. “It made a difference to that one.”

It's only Saturday and I find myself already missing some of the kids at the home!

Today we went and visited some family friends. I had met them before many times, so it was nice to meet again! It was John (7) Isabelle (6) and the new baby Papaai (don't think I spelled that right...).  I spent the rest of my day topping up my modem to 8GB so I wont have to worry about running out of internet!

I cleaned my room and Safowaa was very impressed. The electricity has been out for about 24 hours now so I have been reading and playing chess with myself. I have already finished two books and have started on another one. Tomorrow we get up at 6 AM for church that starts at 6:30 AM.

I hope the power comes back on before the rain stops. Once the sun comes out, I'll be sweating like a pig if I can't turn the fan on!

Hang in there, I'm hoping these blog posts will become a little more eventful...... but for now, heres a picture of my overly-dramatic-bandaged-toe to entertain you.
